About Mrs. CANNON

Picture
Hello and welcome to our third grade class website! I am incredibly excited to be spending my tenth(!!) year teaching 3rd grade here at MES! I graduated from North Carolina State University in Raleigh where I studied Elementary Education with a concentration is STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). I continued my education and received my National Boards Certification in 2020.

I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. My love for teaching comes from my mom who is a 5th grade teacher. I grew up spending a lot of time at school playing "teacher" with my little brothers. At different times growing up I also wanted to be an astronaut, an architect, and a cake decorator, but teaching was always my passion.

I was born in California but my family moved to the mountains of North Carolina right before I started kindergarten, so I claim NC as home. I have an incredible husband who helps me prep for the school year behind the scenes. You'll see our golden retriever, Bubba, in pictures around the classroom and featured in many math problems throughout the year!

I have a passion for the outdoors and love to spend my time outside. Whether it is hiking, running, camping, or just hanging out I love to be outside. I have been to 49 of the 50 U.S. states and have been to 16 different countries. I hope to continue traveling and learning about the world, different cultures, and the amazing people who live there.

I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember and every day I become more sure of my decision. Each child has the power to change our world for the better and my goal is to help them reach their full potential. I hope to inspire my students to find a love for learning and be curious about the world around them just as teachers in my past have done for me.
