Welcome!!

Where to find important information:

Welcome Students and Parents!

The school year is here and I could not be more excited to have your child in my class! Here, in our weekly newsletter, you will find the easiest access to our class updates, requests, links, and school events. Please check back each week for new information!

I will be sending more information about the start of the school year in my first weekly email. If you are not yet on our class email list, please let me know and I will add you to our group.

Supplies

I have had a lot of questions about what to do with your child's school supplies- some of you have ordered them ahead of time which have already been delivered to our classroom! If your students are bringing in their own supplies, have them bring them in on the first day and we will organize the supplies as a class. If you want to, you can put your child's name on their binders or pencil case. Other supplies such as pencils and expo markers will be used as a whole class supply.

Click on the link below for our 3rd Grade class supply list:

Weekly Updates: Weekly email updates will be sent home each Friday/weekend to let you know of any important dates, upcoming assessments, and school events. We are lucky to be at such an amazing school with so many incredible resources. However, we could really use some help building our classroom library. Mainly, I want to add more quality children's literature to our class library. One of the most valuable things that I can do for my students is to put good, quality books in their hands that they LOVE to read.

If you can, please consider donating a book to our classroom. These kids are the most deserving, hardworking students and I want to support them in every way that I can. Any support is more than appreciated by not only myself but your amazing, hard working 3rd graders that I am lucky enough to teach! Thank you for your help!!

Q3 Student-Led Conferences

This quarter, our conferences will be mostly student-led. This will give your child the opportunity to show the work they are proud of, reflect on their progress so far this year, and plan future goals that they would like to meet in 4th grade. Our conferences will be set up as rotations within the classroom with three student/parent groups. I ask that you sign up for a 30 minute time slot which will include 3 rotations. The rotations will be 10 minutes each and include a student work sample station, goals/reflection station, and a station where you and your student will meet with me to talk about student progress, EOGs, and benchmark data.
I look forward to seeing you and your student at your scheduled time!!

Happy Track-out! Here are resources to practice during the next few weeks. It is really important to be practicing multiplication and division facts. Student fluency with these facts will be assessed when we return from track-out. Other resources are listed strictly practice. Please enjoy your track-out and do not spend too much time working on these resources. Have fun, play outside, and spend time with family! We will have plenty of practice when we get back to school.

Happy Monday!

Scholastic Wishlist

Hello parents and students! Last week was crazy but we are happy to be back in our regular routine! This week shoudl be smooth and easy. Some quick updates include:
  • Character Analysis Assessment on Friday
  • Wordly Wise Lesson 2 Assessment- study Quizlet every night!
  • Push Your Thinking homework will be due on Wednesday and Friday
  • Students earned their Silver Status in Horeshoes (our school wide behavior system)!!! We will eat lunch outside on Friday as a "picnic" for our reward!

World Wear Project: Shoe Collection Drive

Next week there will be a shoe drive for the World Wear Project. (http://worldwearproject.com/) The shoes get donated to needy families throughout the world and our school gets some extra money for each pound of shoes donated.  If your child donates a pair of wearable shoes, they will get a pass to go ice skating!!  You must bring in the shoes next Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday (21st-23rd) to get the ice skating pass. If you turn in shoes after next Wednesday (boxes are in the lobby) you will need to email Alison Bowman at [email protected] to get the ice skating pass. At Morrisville we have a lot to be thankful for so let’s help those that don’t have as much! Thanks!
I have created a Classroom Book Wishlist to help our classroom library grow! We have a wonderful media center but having more access to quality books is important. Most of these books will be used as read-alouds in class and support for lessons. Please consider ordering a book or two for our class!! We greatly appreciate any help!

Click on the button below to be directed to our class order site. Our class code: Q7JPH
