Week of September 12, 2016

Welcome to Week 7!!

​In Need of Parent Volunteers!

Can you believe it?? We're already to week 7- only 3 more weeks until the quarter is over and your students have a well deserved track out. They have been working so hard these past few weeks. I am a very proud teacher :) 
We had so much fun at water day, finishing up our geometry unit, and starting science. ​

​Updates for the week:

• CogAt testing Wednesday-Friday: ​about 30 minutes to test per day. This test measures reasoning and problem solving skills in the areas of 1) verbal, 2) quantitative (mathematics), 3) spatial or non-verbal (using shapes and figures to solve problems). 
• Kiss the Pig!: students are voting for which teacher they want to Kiss the Pig at the Fall Festival on September 30th... votes are $0.25 a piece. 
• Multiplication Unit: We are starting multiplication unit on Monday. Help your student practice their multiplication facts each night. Tape sticky notes with math fact all around the house- near light switches, on the fridge, on the bathroom mirror. The more we see the facts, the easier they are to recall!

• Scholastic orders should be in this week! ​

Ms. Kim is teaching science to our kids this half of the quarter! She has a lot of really exciting and fun activities planned but she needs 3-4 parents to help facilitate. Students are learning about the skeletal system and will be uncovering owl pellets to find bones of different animals that owls eat. If you are able, please volunteer at the link below:

October 25th is Parent Education Conference Night

​Morrisville Parents, please mark your calendars for our upcoming Parent Education Conference which will be the evening of Tuesday, October 25th.  This is your opportunity to come and learn more about our best practices and ways you can help support your child's learning at home.  As we begin planning for this conference, we would love to hear what topics you would like to know more about.
